Numbers Visible on Painted Canvas? [SOLUTION]

Paint by Numbers Canvas

Being halfway through painting your canvas when you have the realization that your painting clearly shows the numbers on the canvas and it looks like a botched attempt at trying to hide secret codes in a painting, much like a knock-off from some Dan Brown book plot. To save yourself from the embarrassment, we have a few tricks up our sleeve to help you. You should also read our tips that would solve 19 problems for you.

Things you need:

  • A canvas you are painting on
  • A white marker/pencil
  • Paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Motivation

Solution 1:

In order to make sure that the numbers do not show through on the canvas, simply opt for double coating the area carefully.

While double coating the area with paint, make sure that the first layer has dried a bit before applying the second one since wet paint can cause the painting to get smudged.

Solution 2:

In case double coating does not help your case, use a white marker (easily available at any crafts or stationery shop) and very lightly run it over the numbers on the canvas. Make sure you do not press down too much on the marker otherwise the ink may spread and ruin your canvas. Ensure that the marker ink has dried before you start painting.
